Some of you reading this may be familiar with the title of this post. It is the address of a house in a well-to-do suburb of Ashtead, Surrey that has attracted an immense amount of media attention in the past few weeks, generated a frenzy at ARRSE and one of the fastest growing Downing Street online petitions ever.

For those who are not familiar, let me summarize, rapidly:

British soldiers go to war, are injured, return to the UK, have hospital treatment, need re-hab. Said re-hab is conducted at Headley Court, a military rehabilitation centre at an old RAF camp in Surrey. Relatives wish to visit their loved ones, accommodation is scarce. Forces charity SSAFA find nearby house for sale, apply for planning permission to make some very minor alterations to allow families to short stay. Local residents get wind of this and cry “NIMBY!

SSAFA
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to attend the council planning meeting where the motion was pushed through unanimously to allow the alterations to go ahead. Victory on the home front.
