Dont worry, this is not an escort agency that specialises in speed of service, but the newest messaging and chat program from the Mozilla stable. Instantbird is a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client. Using it, you can connect to all your different IM accounts. It uses the Mozilla rendering engine to display IMs, and the Pidgin libpurple to connect to the different networks. Instantbird is a free and open source software. So you are free to use, distribute and modify it.
It is compatible with AIM, MSN, QQ, Google Talk, XMPP, ICQ, Yahoo and many more. So as you can see, this is probably the only messaging download that you will ever need although it causes no conflict if you other clients are installed.
Apparently there are extensions and add-ons available, but as yet none are listed on the website. You are invited, however, to contribute if you have the appropriate level of skill. There is not much more to say about it at the moment, apart from that it is in it’s early infancy and is destined for big things. This is version 0.1, with a development team of…2.
