Rebel Sim Card – Rebel Simcard enables your existing simcard to work on any locked mobile phone. It is used in parallel to your existing simcard as its only 0.10mm thick, therefore can be inserted along with your existing simcard in any of the mobile phones available throughout the world. Click Here.
UPDATE: 15/08/2008 – Pwnage 2.02
Now Pwnage 2.02, the iPhone un-locking tool by the iPhone-Dev Team is now working and available. It can be downloaded here or here or here. Windows users should click here to download WinPwn. There is a video available to give you a heads up on how to use it:
UPDATE:02/08/2008 – iPhone 3G
So, the new iPhone 3G was released and subsequently UNLOCKED nanoseconds after launch. Apparently Pwnage does not work… YET. Not much more to say, there is tons of info on the net: See Google. Also: www.unlockiphone20.com and www.iphoneunlockuk.com. YouTube has just a few clips. Like:
None of them flick your switch? Why not use your iPhone knowledge to make some easy cash? Or maybe just have some fun?
UPDATE:16/12/2007
A reader tells us of this new website: http://www.iphonelocks.com. Apparently you can easily break 1.1.2 in conjunction with the Jailbreak software within a matter of minutes. If anyone has any experience with it then let us know via email or comments. Check out these videos below:
Original Post:
Last night at 6:02pm the long awaited iPhone made it’s debut on the streets of the UK; people had queued for around 24 hours outside of the Apple flagship store in Regent Street, London. Although much hyped, the furor was never going to reach the fever pitch that it did in the U.S. this summer. The handset has also gone on sale at around 1,300 other O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores around the UK with each customer limited to two of the £269 handsets each.
The iPhone lacks many of the features of it’s rivals and particularly the Nokia N95. The iPhone only works on slower 2G networks, limiting its usefulness as a mobile web browser. Apple insist that it chose 2G so as to increase the phones talk-time, stating that the 3G technology is far too power hungry.
Amongst many fans and critics, there are concerns that consumers are only able to use the phone with the O2 mobile network. The phones can be unlocked for use on other networks but this voids the warranty; apparently the device can break if software updates from Apple are installed. As many as 250,000 iPhones have been unlocked in the U.S. so far.
In the States, teenager George Hotz, 17, who was the first to unlock his iPhone so it could be used on networks outside the US has traded the gadget for a brand new Nissan 350Z. They also gave him a paid consultancy job and 3 more iPhones. iPhone unlocking is now big business – there are literally hundreds of websites like this one dedicated to it and even legitimate businesses are spawning everywhere. Be aware, there are also many scams too. Check out these results on Google for iPhone unlocking.
Phone Unlock Ltd have launched the website iphoneunlockuk.com, with it’s aim to do exactly what it says on the tin. For £69.99 a technician will carry out the procedure in-store or for £39.99 you can do it yourself. The website even states that it’s office, on Oxford Street is only 600 yards from the Apple store in Regent Street. In addition, they are claiming to have a hack for the new firmware (1.1.2), Apple reckons they have closed the existing backdoor.
There are also tons and tons of YouTube videos available. Many are out of date so I won’t post one here, I’ll let you choose.

Visited this site, but can only see info on 1.1.1 I was under the impression that UK phones had 1.1.2 am I mistaken?
Nov 16, 2007 @ 22:03:31
Thanks Carl, you are correct but let me just refer you back to iphoneunlockuk.com (5th paragraph). They state on their website that they “have posted the first step in the unlock of the 1.1.2 UK iPhone…”. It is just a small matter of time before it is completely cracked and I’ll update this page when that happens. Obviously the holy grail is a free tutorial, I’m scouring the earth as we speak.

Iphoneunlockuk.com only use the same system and programs that you can download for free of the net. Save your money and do it yourself.

i want to get the new iphone 3g but i need to know for sure that i can unlock it to use in another country. can anyone confirm for sure that it can be unlocked and recommend a trusted website to do it on? thanks
Aug 15, 2008 @ 21:42:30
Nirou,
It can be unlocked, by the Pwnage software.
Also, the 2 sites mentioned in the update above do it as a service:
http://www.unlockiphone20.com and http://www.iphoneunlockuk.com can do it at a reasonable price. Look at their sites and see what you think.

When choosing an unlocking soloution make sure you use one that can be reset to factory settings if needed and thus doesnt void you warranty.

I was in america and settled a guys bar bill or the guy behind the bar was gonna take him out. In return the guy gave me his i-phone, it now says sim not registered, insert sim to start i-phone, is it possible i can get this phone unlocked in the state it is in now asking for a sim card?
I am planning to take it back to the UK and use my 02 sim card, or preferebly change networks altogether if it can be unlocked.
